Your Tin Can Bay “Holiday Home” boasts high quality sleeping and living arrangements for 12 people so that you and your friends and family can enjoy your time together sharing a sense of cohesive oneness with plenty of space for everyone.
With 5 Bedrooms housing 2 Queen Beds, 1 Double Bed and 2 Single Beds as well as 2 top quality Sofa Beds in the Entertainment Room, you will find your stay extremely comfortable and private – and all the linen is supplied!
You will find the Bathroom, 2 toilets, Lounge / Dining and fully equipped modern Kitchen and Laundry very much to your liking, and the Entertainment Room, BBQ area and large Front Patio provide more than enough space to kick back and relax.
Being in a quiet No Through Road, your relaxation experience will be enhanced simply because there is no traffic or noise.
And of course, we are Pet Friendly. If you have a beloved pooch that you just can’t leave behind, then by all means bring them along for the holiday too. The large kennel out the back will ensure their comfort and the back yard is fully fenced to maximise their safety and security.
Tin Can Bay is well known for it’s Bowling and Golf events – while it’s only a 5-minute drive in your own car, a Courtesy Bus can be arranged to pick you up at your door and bring you home from the Clubs allowing you to protect your driver’s license when having a few drinks at the local Sports Club, Country Club, Golf Club, Bowls Club, or Rowing and Yacht Club.
Some come just to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life to enjoy some peace and quiet and so a 5-minute walk to the bike path and shady walkways takes you along some beautiful water frontage with picnic areas, and children’s playgrounds close by in either direction.
Many come for the dolphin-feeding and cruise opportunities, but boating, fishing and crabbing are also high on the priority list. Go on a Fishing Charter, but if you want, you can bring your own boat by all means as there is plenty of room to house it, and 2 cars, in the back yard. And don’t forget, Frazer Island and 4×4 Driving go hand in hand too, after you cross the vehicular ferry at nearby Inskip Point. Don’t have a 4WD or boat? No Problem. Hire one from one of the local suppliers.
Closer to home, for your convenience though, there is a well-stocked IGA store, a Bottle Shop, fast food outlets and other specialty stores, as well as local markets on the weekends (see local notices for further details).

Guest Reviews
“The owners of the house were very accommodating and helpful. We have stayed in many places before and never had hospitality like that. It had plenty of room for the kids and adults to have there own space. Tin Can Bay was a great place to holiday quiet, friendly and great for children.”
Candice, March 2010
“The house exceeded our expectations, everything we needed was available, I have stayed at many houses/units over the years and this is by far the best we have stayed at. Our 4 grandchildren enjoyed having their own space which was great for the adults as well. We had not been to Tin Can Bay before but would definitely consider going back it was a lovely relaxed holiday with everything within easy access.”
Dianne, January 2010
“A piece of paradise within paradise. Our family came together from NSW, SA and 3 different areas of Queensland for the funeral of a loved one. The level of care taken to have every need and desire for all age groups including the children catered for, was just amazing. The attention to detail is astounding – it was better than living at home! Ray and Helen, thank you so much. You and your lovely home actually helped us turn a sad time into a celebration of life. We will definitely be back.”

More “general information” about Tin Can Bay
Tin Can Bay is a town in south east Queensland, Australia. The seaside town is located on a deep but narrow sheltered inlet in the Gympie Local Government Area, 218 kilometres north of the state capital, Brisbane.
Tin Can Bay is located on the Fraser Coast in Queensland, just north of Rainbow Beach. You can get to Tin Can Bay by heading East from Gympie. The attractive drive, passes plenty of fantastic landscape scenery along the way and so is worth the effort.
(At the 2006 census, Tin Can Bay had a population of 1,918)
It is suggested that the town’s name derives from the indigenous word, “Tuncanbar”, thought to refer to the dugongs that frequent the inlet. European settlement began in the 1870s as the point where logs would be floated to the timber mills at Maryborough.
Tin Can Bay later became, and still remains, an important fishing port, with a focus on prawns as well as recreational fishing. There is an excellent public boat ramp into Snapper Creek with boat-washing facilities and ample trailer parking.
Tin Can Bay is the nearest town to the Australian Army’s Wide Bay Training Area and a vehicular ferry operates at nearby Inskip Point providing access to Fraser Island.
The seaside town is a popular holiday destination and launch pad to the stunning aquatic playground of the Great Sandy Strait – a pristine waterway protected by World Heritage listed Fraser Island.
The area is a Ramsar Convention Wetland of International Importance.
Other recreational facilities include hotels, holiday units and caravan parks, with houseboats and yachts for hire and a world class marina.
Active sports facilities include an 18-hole golf course, two bowls clubs, tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool.
The Tin Can Bay Country Club is the main recreational focus for residents and visitors serving Tin Can Bay, Cooloola Cove and Rainbow Beach areas of Cooloola Shire, Queensland, Australia.
Tin Can Bay is a very pretty place, with its main attraction being the early morning dolphin feeding, with the regular arrival of wild Indo-Pacific dolphins which usually appear early mornings next to the Norman Point boat ramp – These dolphins can be hand fed under close supervision.
Hand Feed the Dolphins
If the video looks jerky, click PAUSE and wait a little while for the video to download, then press PLAY.
If you are interested in feeding the dolphins you should head to Barnacles Bait and Cafe, which is located at the end of the Tin Can Bay Marina.
Barnacles Cafe is open from 7am each day, so arrive early, enjoy a coffee or snack and take in the views as the dolphins make their way in.
Feeding starts at about 8 am. The dolphins generally arrive quite early and depart soon after feeding, so please plan to arrive between 7.00am and 8.00am.
As dolphins are wild animals these times can not be guaranteed but the earlier you arrive the more chance of success.
Fish for feeding is available on site. As of 11th April 2010, fish for feeding is $5.00 per person to cover costs.
The dolphins that you will see at Tin Can Bay are Pacific Humpback Dolphins, which are slightly different in shape to the well known Bottlenose Dolphins.
Due to the fact that the dolphins are wild, times cannot be guaranteed. It is worth arriving well before 8am to maximise your opportunity of feeding the dolphins.
There are a number of rules to abide by which the volunteers will explain. Only fish purchased at the site can be fed to the dolphins with a maximum of 3kg fed to each dolphin per day.
Each September the town hosts the Tin Can Bay Seafood Festival, a fantastic day of family fun, with entertainment, novelty competitions such as mullet throwing and prawn eating, helicopter joy flights over the bay, delicious seafood and market stalls.
Other events throughout the year include the Bay to Bay Yacht Race, Dragonboat Regatta, Cooloola Coast Flower Show and the Foreshore Family Carnival from Boxing Day to New Year’s Eve.
